Carisi is an inexperienced detective who transferred to the Manhattan Special Victims Unit
as Detective Nick Amaro's temporary replacement when Amaro was reassigned to Queens.
When Amaro transferred out permanently, Sonny took his place.
He had brief SVU experience in other boroughs, including Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island.
Sonny finally passed his last exams at Fordham University and now has his law degree.
